ginger
you were the best friend I've ever known, even if you did sometimes scratch and you got a little senile as you got older
everyone you met fell in love with you at once…except my brother, but he doesn't count. you were the best cat ever
and despite the accidents; that time you came home with an injured leg, when you fell off the roof and when you were hit by a car in 2007 and spend months in hospital…even during your last days when you couldn't eat because of the tumour, you still didn't hesitate to chase my socks as you always do
lying on my windowsill or the barbecue, catching lizards, teasing the native miners, chasing after us on wetland bike rides, sitting on dad while he watched the news even though he didn't want you to, being so smoochy with everyone you met, climbing all over my desk, stealing chairs and getting red fur everywhere, your little snarl from the chipped tooth
i don't believe in life after death but i know the life you lived was a bloody fantastic one, and i was so lucky to be able to spend it with you
I love you so much and I'm going to miss you
goodbye, ginger. rest in peace.
